April 28, 2021: Garuda Aerospace, a drone-as-a-service company will fly its drones over Bangalore’s government hospitals and public buildings to spray anti-Covid disinfectants to sanitize them. According to a report by The Assam Tribune, BBMP has granted permission to Garuda Aerospace to carry out the drone-based sanitization work.

Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Managing Director of the company reportedly said, “At the initiative of P.C.Mohan, Lok Sabha Member from Bengaluru Central constituency, we will be starting the Covid-19 sanitization program for three days- April 27-30- in Bengaluru as our social commitment without charging any service fee.” Also, the police force in Bangalore has permitted the company to spray disinfectants in some areas. Furthermore, as a social cause, the Garuda drones may also carry Covid -19 vaccines in the future.

Last year, when the pandemic broke out in India, municipal corporations asked Garuda Aerospace to conduct drone-based sanitization works along with many smart cities like Chennai, Varanasi, Raipur, and Hyderabad. Moreover, the company got contracts from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana governments for spraying anti-locust pesticides in 2020.
