Former IAF Official Appointed as New COO At Skye Air

April 18, 2021: S. Vijay, veteran wing commander has been appointed as the new Chief Operational Officer at drone deliverer Skye Air Mobility. Mr. Vijay retired from the Air Force and has been mentoring Drone and Geographic information system start-ups for four years. Moreover, he has been a guest faculty at the Indian Institute of Drones.

According to a report by BW People, on his appointment, Mr. Vijay reportedly said that the company achieved impressive growth and that he is excited to be a part of a talented and committed team. He further said, “Drones are the need of the hour. The potential of drones is immense their use will only grow with time."

Skye Air is among the few Indian companies to get approval to start BVLOS drone flights as a pilot project and the company is currently gearing up for trials. The company also has plans to be a part of the overseas drone market and Mr. Vijay's vast experience in drone technology will be an added advantage to the company.

Skye Air is developing healthcare and delivery drones and hopes to incorporate drone delivery in the future to improve food & e-commerce deliveries, healthcare & relief logistics, and urban and defence logistics.
