UP Government Deploys Drone Surveillance In Containment Zones & To Save River Ganga From Pollution

May 26, 2021: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched four Garuda Aerospace drones in Varanasi - to curb pollution in Ganga river, to keep a strict vigil in the containment zones and deliver medical and other essentials to the needy. The drones can move at a speed of 10-12 m/sec and can fly to a height of 120 metre. The drone videos and photographs will help the officials to keep strict vigil and will also help the security personnel and resources to formulate further strategies.

The recent cases of floating dead bodies in river Ganga has raised concerns about pollution and hence drone surveillance has been deployed.

A report by Swarajya stated that CK 100 drones will be used for spraying disinfectants, White Knight drones will be used to explore the feasibility of delivering medicines and Aakashvani drones for public announcements to enforce social distancing in the holy city of Varanasi.

Last Year During This Time

During last year’s lockdown, the Uttar Pradesh government directed the UP Director General of Police (DGP) to deploy drones extensively for maintaining the law and order situation in the state. Apart from drones, fire brigade vehicles were also used for disinfecting the public places to prevent the spread of the virus. Furthermore, the postal department vans were deployed for the transportation of essential commodities in UP. The government also started a Covid Care Fund in addition to the existing UP CM Distress Relief Fund.
